I'm trying to stock up on all of my favorite products before I move back to Poland, but my knowledge about what's available there is 20 years old! I'm both looking forward to and dreading the search process.

Poland consistently ranks, for me, as having the worst supermarkets and drugstores in the EU. Certainly it’s gotten a lot nicer as incomes have risen over the years, but we still have to bring tons of supplies every time we go there.

Surely there’s someone on Substack in Poland who could help out… right?

I’ve lived in Germany & Scotland, and I weirdly missed DayQuil while there. It was hard to get used to different over the counter medicines for colds and coughs.

I fully understand that and brought some Nyquil back with me on my last trip! When you're sick, you want the remedies you know

I also live in Spain and call this required method of shopping “ hunting ang gathering.”

So I love Korean sunscreen. I can usually find a tube or two at Primor, the one in Callao in Madrid. And yup i usually end up hunting and gathering - i feel like it’s a different way of shopping and I prefer not to be buying from amazon anyway.

Nice! What are your favorite Korean sunscreen brands?

My current fav is the Frudia brand - it’s in a white and blue tube.

I remember when I first moved to Madrid in 1999 we struggled to buy an electric kettle (even in El Corte Inglés) - being British that is unfathomable on every level!! Also decent Birthday/Christmas cards.. the Spanish just aren't into greetings cards in the same way. I left Madrid in 2020 and now live in the Canary Islands and the only thing I miss... fresh Brussel Sprouts!! In five years I have only found them on the shelves in ECI ONCE!!! I stockpiled and overindulged and spent the next two weeks happily farting my way around Las Palmas!!

I love Primor for picking up a bunch of cosmetics stuff at once! I used to bewail the lack of a decent tinted SPF until I found the ISDIN Fusion Water range and now I’m obsessed. It’s not cheap but lasts a decent amount of time and most importantly is not orange 😅

I'll give it a try! Not being orange is a key feature :)

Flashback to me, Madrid, 2004. Homesick and broke US college student. Suddenly I stumble across Peter Pan peanut butter in El Corte Inglés. Heaven! (We didn’t even have that brand where I grew up in Washington State).

I can imagine the joy! I've seen that Peter Pan brand here and wondered how it tastes
